Detroit Greens a local of the Green Party of Michigan

The closing ceremony has closed!!!

I want to write you all (staff, local, NPC, OC) and just say a
tremendous thank you for all of the work you did to pull off the US
Social Forum. Many of you were running around and breaking down the
space during the national assembly and closing ceremony, so I just
want you to all share in the knowledge that:

1. We were honored by the Bolivian Ambassador as a part of the
international community working for the protection and sustaining of
Mother Earth, and justice for all people.

2. We were invited to Dakar, to the next World Social Forum, by
brother Mamadou - who thought our forum was "incredible".

3. All of Detroit - the local organizing committee, the anchors and
the city period! - received a long, long standing ovation for the
remarkable hosting of this event. Folks were passing in money and
books for the progressive library {thanks to Michael and Oya}, and
just saying how kind folks were to them and how much they LOVED the
city.

4. The outpouring of gratitude for the volunteers, the staff, and the
NPC was overwhelming. While we were behind the scenes experiencing one
impossible crisis after another (and turning it into opportunity and
solutions!), the feedback I heard again and again was how smoothly
things went.

5. We made all kinds of history in terms of the frameworks and actions
that we committed to during the People's Movement Assembly. The work
of communities to uplift and align work, and the work of the PMA folks
to synthesize that work, was dynamic and incredible.

6. Did we have crisis, grief, tension, and problems? Very much so. Did
we make mistakes? Yes! Do we have a debrief coming? Absolutely. But
for now I hope you all find a way to bask in the glow and REST in the
next week.

Sending so much love to each and every one you for the work you have
done, and the work we will continue to do together.
